Whistle Bear Wedding Photos | Nicole and Tom

Whistle Bear Golf Club is one of those venues that feels like home to me - and it likely feels that way to every guest as well. Nestled in Kitchener/Cambridge and located just off of the 401, it’s an easy drive for guests coming from out of town without sacrificing any charm or character. I’ve been a preferred photographer with Pearle Weddings and have worked at their venues for years, and photographing Nicole and Tommie’s wedding at Whistle Bear was something special!

Nicole and Tommie began their wedding day by getting ready at a nearby Airbnb, which was perfect as it hosted their families and their wedding party. We captured their first look, couples portraits, wedding party, and family photos on the Airbnb property, it was a great spot!

Once we headed over to the venue, guests were floored by the whistle bear ceremony space. As you’ll see in the photos, the whistle bear ceremony area is one of those rare spaces that combines the feeling and experience of an outdoor ceremony, while still being covered and ready for rain if it comes. Of course, this wedding day was HOT and without a hint of rain, so the whistle bear covered ceremony shaded guests perfectly.

Since Nicole and Tommie chose to do a first look and their portraits prior to the ceremony, they were able to relax and enjoy their cocktail hour (something I highlight recommend!). The details in their reception space were incredible- filled with beauty and complimented by the incredible light we had on the day, which poured through the whistle bear reception windows.

Sunsets at whistle bear are something special - the area is perfectly positioned to get a warm glow right before the sun dips over the horizon, and the combination and lack of extremely tall trees means you get to experience it to it’s fullest. This really helps for things like sunset photos, where you’re often timing it with the flow of the evening and wanting everyone to enjoy their time together as much as possible. Nicole and Tom really trusted our vision and timing, and they got quite the majestic light to finish off their day!

While we photographed this wedding at whistle bear golf club, we also captured a beautiful highlight film as one team. A lot of couples I work with are pretty camera shy and a little more on the introverted side, and love that I provide this highlight film in my packages so that they can have an elegant video from their day, without hiring a separate video team.
